5 TIPS ON HOSTING A LIGHT UP CEREMONY FOR YOUR SOLAR SYSTEM

For your nonprofit to incorporate an energy efficient solar system, shows your company makes cost-efficient, environmental investments. Your nonprofit organization is no longer just contributing to the community, it’s now contributing to the environment. An operational decision to go solar should be recognized. Your community would be pleased in knowing you’re now “going green”. A traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony is a great way to bring notice.  If you take note of a few key elements in promoting your solar system, you’ll receive the best outcome for your event. Now, your organization is advocating for the environment while cutting back on overhead electric expense. With that said, promote your solar system while keeping the theme of its purpose and benefits. If planned correctly, many can benefit from your ribbon-cutting event, including your organization. Every aspect of your event should be geared towards “green” products and their advantages.

Here are 5 tips on hosting a light-up ceremony for your solar system to help you started on the right path for a successful ceremony.

In terms of attendees, a diverse group of people should be invited. The guest list should include,  friends, family, county officials, neighboring businesses, local residents, clients, and other ‘go-green’ vendors. They’d be interested in knowing how they’re benefiting from your solar investment.

Before commencing to cut the ceremonial ribbon, share a few details as to why you made your decision to invest in solar paneling. Give thanks to those who attended, those involved, and those who made your ceremony possible. Inform your audience of enriching environmental impacts of your choice to go solar. Share with them what solar energy means for the community and elsewhere. You can also plug-in your solar system installation company as an appreciation of their products and service. Do so by providing a recognition statement, or allow their representative to speak on behalf of the corporation.

Vendors are an ideal way to connect with other businesses and organizations while keeping guest engaged. Brochures and other promotional material, provides solar and other environmental awareness. Generate more profit by charging booth fees or gaining commission from any sales resulting from your ribbon-cutting ceremony. Your vendors should be companies from other solar system installers, environmental product distributors, energy companies, and potentially other nonprofit organizations.

Use entertainment as a means to promote your organization and affiliates. Gift bags are an awesome take-home souvenir of your ceremony. Allow any go-green or solar company in attendance to issue their promotional material via the complimentary gift bags. Everyone wins with this courteous gesture. Attendees receive valuable information about environmental products and resources. Affiliates get to market their ventures for free or a small fee if applicable. Your organization benefits from the informative handouts, gaining recognition with both guest and vendors.

Serve food and they’ll come! Whether it’s, finger-foods or catered entrees, more people are willing to participate when food is involved. If you want to keep the theme of the ceremony, consider hiring a catering service which has tasty vegan or vegetarian food. If that’s too extreme, delicious organic meals would be appropriate for your theme. You’re promoting your solar system and all festivities should relate to your decision to invest in the environment.

When managed effectively, these type of events can create a great opportunity for your organization.
