History

The Santa Clara County Dental Society was founded in 1889 by eight dentists who lived and worked in the Santa Clara Valley. At that time, the population for the entire county was approximately 48,000 inhabitants. Those early dentists saw the value in starting an organization specifically for their profession and gathered on a regular basis to discuss changes in the science and practice of dentistry as well as review incoming applicants to their new Society.

Now, more than 130 years later, the Santa Clara County Dental Society has grown into a large, vibrant community of dental professionals committed to education, quality of care and service to their community. There are now more than 1.8 million people in the Santa Clara County and more than 1,800 dentists in our Society.

The Dental Society offers continuing education for its member dentists and dental auxiliary, as well as support, information and other services. The Society also offers referrals and community services to the public.
