MEET EMERY, OUR NEW HIRE

Meet our new team member, Emery Zaleski, and learn why she joined the CollectiveSun team!

Tell us about yourself

I am a San Diego transplant, originally from Pennsylvania, inspired by the Southern California way of life. My passion for sustainability has guided me to the renewable energy industry. I have an education in Alternative Energy Engineering and have previous work experience in the solar field. It is very exciting to be a part of the vital and ever-evolving world of renewable energy.

What drew you to CollectiveSun?

It is important to me that my work contributes positively to creating a sustainable future. Being able to accomplish this while simultaneously supporting non-profit organizations was an immediate draw to CollectiveSun. I am thrilled to assist mission-driven organizations in their solar journey, helping them to further provide a public benefit and reduce their carbon footprint. CollectiveSun’s core values align with my ideals regarding sustainability, strong, supportive communities, and reducing human impact on the environment.

What are some favorite things to work on?

In my professional and personal life, I enjoy things organized. Developing and maintaining client profiles is one of my favorite things to work on. I strive to provide an efficient, streamlined project process for clients and contractors. It is satisfying to compile and organize information, serving as an easily accessible database that allows for an enjoyable experience for all parties involved. I also enjoy creating relationships with others who are passionate about renewable energy and continuing my education in this continuously evolving field.

What do you see as the biggest challenges facing the solar and nonprofit communities these days, and how do you think CollectiveSun can help?

A variety of obstacles stand in the way of the progression of the alternative energy industry including resources, policy and legislation, aversion to change, and environmental factors. One challenge for non-profit organizations wishing to go solar is financing. CollectiveSun is able to offer solar at a discount to these organizations, facilitating additional savings which can then be used to support their mission-driven endeavors.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I’m grateful to live in such a gorgeous area and I take full advantage of the vast array of activities San Diego has to offer. My personal interests include travel, biking, reading, hiking, yoga, and spending time near the ocean. I also enjoy cooking, craft beer, and tending to the small jungle of houseplants I have accumulated.
